An Asian twist on baked oats: Chocolate Miso Air-Fried Oats. Perfect when you’re craving something sweet, chocolatey and umami.
I did a poll on my Instagram stories, asking whether you’d like more air-fried oat recipes. Turns out, everyone loves air-fried oats and more than 90% of you said yes! So here’s an Asian twist: Chocolate Miso Air-Fried Oats.
I think the chocolate miso combination became very popular in 2020. Miso paste has a savoury umami flavour whilst chocolate is, of course, sweet. They pair so well together!
This will definitely satisfy any sweet-salty craving.
A tip to making air-fried oats
There are two textures when it comes to baked/air-fried oats:
- creamy and runny in the center, with fluffy and moist cake-like edges
- still creamy, but with a denser and thicker consistency
When the oats are fresh out from the air fryer, it will be more firm around the edges and still creamy in the middle. The longer you leave it, the thicker it’ll become. This is because the oats continue to cook with residual heat.
If you like a thinner consistency, you can either eat the oats immediately once they’re done cooking OR reduce the cooking time by a 1-2 minutes. For a thicker consistency, simply let the oats cool for a few minutes before eating.
If you like the flavour of chocolate and miso, you should make my Chocolate Miso Granola.
