Vegan air-fried oats is similar to baked oats, but way faster. This is a quick and delicious breakfast that tastes like chocolate and peanut butter heaven.
If you’re not on TikTok and have no idea what baked oats is, it’s basically all the ingredients for a typical baked oatmeal recipe blended together to get a smooth batter. It’s baked in the oven, and comes out like cake (as many appear to claim).
Now, I’ve actually tried making baked oats multiple times, to no avail. My baked oats always came out still wet in the middle, too dense or gummy. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes for it to fully cook through. And though it always tasted delicious, I wouldn’t call the texture fluffy and cake-like.
So I tried making it in my air-fryer. And it worked so much better! I’m not going to guarantee a super fluffy cake-like texture, but the top is golden brown and almost caramelised, while the inside is moist (yup I said it) and sweet!
Vegan air-fried oats also only takes 10 minutes which is way faster than baked oats. It’s also the longest I am willing to wait for breakfast on a weekday morning, you get what I mean?
Ingredients to make vegan air-fried oats
You only need 4 ingredients to make air-fried oats!
- ripe banana, the riper the better! There is no added sugar in this recipe, so sweetness comes from the banana. If your banana isn’t very ripe, you can add some sugar to compensate. The banana also helps to bind all the ingredients together.
- rolled oats, though quick cook oats or instant oats will work as well. We’re blending everything to get a smooth batter, so you could even use oat flour.
- plant milk of your choice. I used unsweetened soy milk.
- baking powder, which helps the air-fried oats to rise and get a lil fluffy.
I added peanut butter in the middle and sprinkled chocolate chips all throughout the batter. After air-frying, you’ll get a molten peanut butter center and sweet chocolate in every bite… Optional, but highly highly recommended.
If you don’t like stove-top oatmeal, I highly recommend you give these air-fried oats a try!

Hi Kristin,
This recipe sounds great, especially with the molten peanut butter in the middle. I wanted to try vegan oat bake for some time but didn’t want to use the oven for such a small batch. Now that I have an air fryer and your recipe I’ll give it a try soon. Thanks!
Best

hi Anna, im glad you found what you were looking for!! Do let me know how you like it 🙂
Hi there, this is the first recipe I’ve tried from your Insta! It’s delicious – I made it twice but have not perfected the texture!! I like a cross between my 1st and 2nd attempts – 1st was too gooey, probably due to more milk, less oats (but taste wise, I loved the banana richness and sweetness). 2nd was too cakey (but my husband loves it more) but too much oats taste and not enough sweetness for my liking! I didn’t have a 1/3 measuring cup so had to agak the portions!!
Thank you for sharing, super easy craving fulfilled type dessert dish 😍
hey kat, im glad you liked the recipe! yup, some people like a gooey texture, others like a cakey one! i prefer a mix of the two hehe
This was absolutely delicious! I added a pinch of salt and some cinnamon, and topped with fresh blackberries.
that sounds so good! im glad you liked it 🙂
